Family home history
The house was built in the 1950s by grandparents Juliette and Omer as a family home for their three sons. Sophie has recently renovated it into an artisan ceramics workspace and guest accommodation, personally designing many of the architectural details. Her father still tends the vegetable plot.
Your host
Sophie transitioned from architectural practice to ceramics and handicraft. She lives in the historic centre of Bruges with her husband Peter and their children. As someone deeply familiar with the area, she's full of recommendations for what to see, do and eat nearby.
An "architect turned ceramic artist", she works mostly in porcelain: pieces that emphasise fragility and strength, shaped through tactile intuition.
